Minor Bantam AA Gold win in Pittsburgh with a perfect 5-0 record
This past weekend the London Jr. Knights Minor Bantam AA Gold team traveled to Pittsburgh to compete in the Pittsburgh Mid Winter Classic.
With 5 very exciting games, including an overtime win against the Waterloo Wolves in the semi finals, the boys skated off the ice Monday night as Champions. During the course of the weekend the boys played 3 tough round robin games against the Waterloo Wolves, Pittsburgh Predators and the Livonia Knights. With a second place finish in the standings, they faced Waterloo again, this time in the semi finals. Both teams refused to give up sending the game into OT. With everyone on the edge of their seats, the Knights were able to find the back of the net about half way thru the extra period to put them into the finals. The boys then faced the Troy Sting, a team they saw earlier in the season in Troy. With both teams much improved since their last meeting, it set up for a great final. Both clubs fought hard throughout the game with back and forth play throughout all 3 periods. When the final buzzer went off, the London Jr. Knights were crowned Champions with a 4-1 victory.
Coach Dave had the following to say regarding the weekend:
"On behalf of the coaching staff, I would just like to thank the boys for a great effort on the ice. The boys played with passion and did everything that we asked them to do. Every player stepped up their game and made a contribution to the championship."
