Midget AAA Win Alliance Championship!

London Jr Knights Midget AAA

Alliance Champions 2011-2012

What a game!  What a series!  In front of an estimated crowd of over 900 people on Sunday night, the first seed Waterloo Wolves took on the second seed London Jr Knights for the 8th and deciding game of the series.

After going down early in the series 5 points to 1 the Jr Knights regrouped and charged back with 3 straight wins.  With the Knights now leading the series 7 points to 5 the Wolves roared back to win game 7 in Waterloo.  With the series now tied both teams seasons were on the line, the loser going home and the winner going to the Telus Central Region Championships in Sault Ste. Marie.  Game 8 proved to be just as entertaining as every game in the series.  There was no scoring until the 16:14 mark when Rai DiLoreto eventually found the back of the net.  Waterloo came back with two markers of their own and the Knights found themselves going to the dressing room at the end of one down 2-1.  The Knights started the second period killing off balance of a Waterloo powerplay.  Waterloo scored just :26 seconds into the  2nd and London were now down 3-1.  Conor Carson capitlized on his chances later in the period and the teams would go the their dressing rooms with Waterloo still leading 3-2.  The Knights new they had to own the third period and they did just that.  Chris Carriero scored at 8:51 and the teams were tied!  At 15:01 Chris Lindner with a beauty shot scored and the Knights were now leading 4-3.  With time ticking away and the Waterloo tender pulled Joe Seney scored an empty netter.  Knights win 5-3!  This is the 3rd Alliance Championship in as many years for the London Jr Knights Midget AAA team.  The London Jr Knights Midget AAA go onto represent the Alliance at the Telus Central Region Championship in Sault Ste Marie April 2 to April 8.  The winner of the Central Region Championship will represent Ontario at the Telus Cup in Leduc Alberta the 3rd week in April.  The Telus Cup is the only National Championship in minor hockey.  Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on an amazing series.  A very special thanks to all of the parents, families, friends and fans that stood by their Knights with outstanding support!
