Coordinated by Jim Long and John MacIntosh, the LJK PeeWee AA Green hosted a Christmas Eve Spirit game with a Minor Bantam AA team from Belgorod, Russia.
The Minor Bantam AA team visiting Canada from Belgorod, Russia near the Ukraine border is here to compete in Windsor, ON in a Christmas Tournament. It was an early morning of travel to get the team from Orangeville to London to compete in the game this morning at Kinsmen.
The teams exchanged gifts of acknowledgment - the LJK's presenting the Russian team with LJK's medals and the Russian team giving the LJK's decadent Russian chocolate to enjoy.
The game was well attended by family and friends and opened with the Russian National Anthem followed by the Canadian National Anthem. The pace of the game was fast and challenged the skills and determination of both teams with Russia winning 5-3.
Both teams enjoyed lunch together following the game and spent some time getting to know each other. It was a great opportunity for both teams to come together and share their hockey spirit and passion for the game.
