LJK Minor Midget Greens were victorious at The Stoney Creek Tournament of Champions this past weekend. Solid team play and stellar goaltending only allowed 1 goal against the entire tournament.
Scores of: 2to0 over Hamilton Huskies White, 3to0 over Centre Wellington, 5to0 over Toronto Blues and 3to0 over Ajax Knights led to a dramatic 2to1 championship victory against The Niagara Falls Flyers in the final.
LJK's goals in the final game came from Cole Mattatall and Caleb Schyvenaars. With blazing speed down the right wing that overwhelmed the defender and goalie, Cole fired a hard low shot and then buried his own rebound to make it 1 to 0. With the game tied 1 to 1, Caleb blasted a laser slap shot top shelf from just inside the blueline which turned out to be the game winning goal.
The rotating goaltending duo of Connor Egan and Zach McCosh were outstanding in only allowing 1 goal over the entire tourney. (Connor and Zach have only allowed 14 goals against in their last 15 regular season and tournament games).
