JR KNIGHTS WIN SILVER MEDAL AT OHF CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT!
by Scott Greguol: This past week the Jr Knights participated in the Ontario Hockey Federation Championship tournament otherwise known at the Midget AAA level as the TELUS Cup Central Regionals.

London faced 4 other league champions along with a GTHL finalist.  Teams participating were the Jr Knights (Alliance), Whitby Wildcats (OMHA), Toronto Young Nationals (GTHL), Don Mills Flyers (GTHL), Ottawa Senators (OEMHL) and the Soo Thunderbirds (GNML).

The week started rough for the Jr Knights as they tied the opener against the Don Mills Flyers before dropping games 2 and 3 to the Whitby Wildcats and Toronto Nationals. The Jr Knights were then put into back to back must win games in which they prevailed in both, defeating the Ottawa Senators on Thursday and the Soo Thunderbirds on Friday. With the round robin over the Jr Knights earned 3rd place and a spot in the Semi Finals on Saturday.

In the Semi-finals the Jr Knights faced the Wildcats and they avenged their loss from earlier in the week and took out Whitby by a 6-2 final. With the win, the Jr Knights were headed to OHF Gold Medal game for the 3rd time in the last 8 seasons.

In the Gold Medal game the Jr Knights would face the Toronto Young Nationals who were undefeated entering the game and were ranked #1 in Ontario all season long. The Jr Knights skated right with the Nationals for 2 periods with both teams amassing 17 shots each. However mid-way through the 3rd period the Nationals got on the board with a couple quick goals. They added a power play goal late in the period and the Jr Knights lost 3-0 and in turn received the Silver medal.

The Jr Knights Ethan Nother lead the tournament with 15 points in seven games while Brandon Glover was 3rd with 10 points.  Zack Weir was 2-2 with a 2.26 GAA and Ryan Langford 1-1-1 with a 3.33 GAA throughout the week.

The Nationals will now move on to the 2015 TELUS Cup being held in Riviere-Du-Loup, QC and will take on the other 4 regional champions along with the host Albatros de College Notre Dame.

Congratulations to the players on a very successful season!
