Great Job This Weekend Boys
This past weekend our team competed in our annual Green And White Hockey Tournament.  This was the team's first tournament this year, and boys I am very proud of what you accomplished.  6 Games in 3 Days, full of fast paced hockey that saw us compete!!

Our tournament started with our First Game against West Hill Golden Hawks.  This was a fast paced game with lots of action in both ends. The first period ended with the Knights leading 1-0, but we knew that both teams had come to play!  The Knights kept pressing, moving the puck and pushing the pace of the game taking a 2-0 lead at the end of the Second. As the Third period started, both teams dug in deep West Hill Scored two on the Knights, now we were all tied up - how were the kids going to respond???  The Knights continued to compete hard and finally took the lead for good - Game finished up 3-2.  The team made 42 passes in this game, got 20 shots on net and gave up 19, but dominated in the Faceoff circle winning 26 of 40 Draws. - First Win in our First Tournament.

After a great afternoon of team bonding with a great meal that everyone contributed to - and with some expert culinary skills displayed by Tony G (or as I refer to him as Mr. T) with some assistance of Doug E., the kids got to play some Soccer Baseball and Floor hockey, we returned to the rink for GAME 2.

Game 2 saw The Knights take on The Humber Valley Sharks.  Again a great game was happening with both teams competing as hard as they could.  The game remained tied 0-0 into the third period. The boys kept pressing and competing scoring 3 goals early in the 3rd period.  Humber Valley Sharks continued to compete as well scoring a gal of their own making the final score 3-1.  Once again The Knights played a strong team game getting 26 shots on net while putting 36 shots at the net, completing 26 passes and winning 25 of 30 faceoffs.    Game 2 done The Knights were 2-0!

Game 3 saw The Knights take on the mighty Clarington Toros on The Big Rink.  A really good hockey team that was well coached.  (Number 1 in Ontario right now for a reason).  Again both teams came out flying, with back and forth action with the first period ending in a 1-1 tie.  The Knights kept working hard, but saw Clarington slowly begin to take the game over and while The Knights score 1 more in the 2nd, Clarington jumped out to a 4-2 Lead.  Our boys dug in deep again continuing to compete as hard as they could but in the end Clarington won 7-3.  This game saw the Knights get outshot 21-5, while completing 20 passes and winning 13 or 23 draws.

Game 4 had the Knights taking on The Vaughan Panthers.  The boys came out on fire, taking control of the game right from the opening draw.  Both teams competed hard, and at the end of the first The Knights were leading 1-0.   The second period started with The Knights keeping their foot on the gas, taking a 3-0 led into the Third.
The boys continued to play some great team defence and finished off with a 4-0 win!  The team completed 31 passes got 29 shots on net while giving up just 10 (great defensive game), and winning 23 or 33 faceoffs.

With a 3-1 record The Knights were off to the Semi-Finals on Sunday!

Game 5 Saw The Knights taking on West Hill Golden Hawks again.  The boys knew that this was going to be a tough game as we had already beaten West Hill once and knew that they wanted some revenge.  Once again both teams came out on fire, competing as hard as they could.  Period 1 ended with The Knights Leading 1-0.  Period 2 started like period 1 ended with fast paced hockey that saw some great chances at both ends, the boys stuck to the game plan and were leading 3-0 at the end of the 2nd.  Period 3 began the same way, both teams pushing the pace with West Hill fighting back tooth and nail - finally scoring 2 goals of their own.  We were in for an exciting finish.  With about 2.40 left in the game, West Hill pulled their goalie and the pressure was on, but The Knights preserved finishing with a 3-2 WIN.  We were off to the Finals!.

Game 6 - The Finals, once again saw The Knights vs. The Clarington Toros back on The Big Pad.  The game stated once again very fast, with Clarington taking an early 1-0 lead.  Not to be beaten down the Knights came back with a quick goal of their own just 19 seconds later - Clarington popped one more goal late in the first to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the 1st.   The Knights ran into a bit of penalty trouble in the second and saw The Toros take a 5-1 Lead.  The boys kept working but in the end we lost 7-1, getting outshot 34-16, making 16 passes and winning 19 of 33 draws.

And while we came up a bit short in the final game - you boys accomplished so much this weekend!
Well Done Guys, Silver in  your first Tournament!
