Over the weekend your minor atom white team took on some amazing talent from all over Ontario and they came prepared!
On Friday morning, we had a re-match of the Oktoberfest championship game against the Scarborough Young Bruins. The boys came out ready and took the game with a score of 4-1. The afternoon game was our first match up with the Vaughan Rangers. Both teams battled and both had some great goaltending. Our Jr Knights came out on top with a score of 3-2. Time to go home for some dinner and rest in our own beds.
Saturday’s round robin games brought the Riverside Rangers in the morning game. Figuring out their goalie was proving to be tricky but final score was 4-1 for the Knights. Saturday afternoon we also ran into a hot Nickel City Sons team. The game was close with a final score of 3-2. The boys were onto the quarter finals in the morning with a perfect record going into day 3.
We made it! The final day with some stiff competition coming our way. In our quarter final matchup we would see the North Durham Warriors and with a final score of 6-2, that would mean a semi-final match up with our friends from the LJK Green team who were coming off an amazing shoot out win. The game was fast paced and fun to watch. Our squad came out on top 5-2. Onto the finals against the undefeated Sault Ste Marie Jr Greyhounds. They were ready and so were our boys. It was a great match up between the two teams with it coming down to the last 2 minutes of the game with the Sault scoring with 6 minutes left in the game to make it 2-1. Our boys didn’t disappoint in potting the 3rd goal with just over a minute left in the game. The boys did it! Held off some pressure from the Greyhounds and took the Green & White title! Congrats on a hard fought weekend. It was a total team effort with only 11 goals against in 7 games! Great back-checking, defensive play and goaltending!
