Hockey Update
Submitted By Webmaster on Tue 03 02, 21
The LJK Board of Directors would like to update the return to play plan as it relates to London moving to Orange and the resumption of hockey including external game play.

We have heard through a parent group that the LJK Board does not want to play externally and would rather just play within ourselves.

This is the farthest from the truth.  We are eager get the kids playing against other associations, be it Elgin or what AA options we have available.  Our ice convenor has spent hours getting things arranged with the city in terms of getting our ice contracts opened, scheduling ice times for all our teams and getting the kids back on the ice as soon as possible.

All teams have been allocated ice and this has been published on the team calendars.  Internal play is a temporary measure until we can get direction from the Alliance in terms of options for external competition, and for those ice convenors to meet and confirm scheduling.  Not only does the Provincial Health Unit have to agree to leagues and who you can play, the City of London also has to approve games being played in our venues with out of town players.  These rules have been put in place to respect the Covid 19 protocols.

This has been a very difficult year.  We understand the frustration that both the parents, coaches and players have and we are doing our best to get the kids back on the ice notwithstanding our responsibility of following both Provincial Health Unit and Alliance rules.

The Board is committed to getting the kids back playing with other associations as soon as possible, we are working hard to make this happen.
