Queen's Cup Championship
Submitted By Webmaster on Sat 03 10, 12

I hope all is well and you have been able to keep up to date on our playoff scores. We were able to win the OUA West Conference Championship on Sunday with a 2-0 win in Game 3 of our series with Windsor. This win qualifies us for the 6 team National Championship in Fredericton, beginning Thursday, March 22nd and also puts us into the Queen’s Cup (OUA Championship) Game this Saturday, March 10th at 7:30pm,  here in London against the McGill Redmen.

Thank-you for your continued support of our program through the many fundraising initiatives that we have during the year. As a small token of our appreciation, we  would like to invite you to be our guest at the Queen’s Cup game. Please use the link below to RSVP and if you have any questions, contact Nikki Mitchell (cc’d above). I will look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

7:30 pm at Thompson Arena

Western Mustangs vs. McGill Redmen

Mustangs Athletics cordially invite you and a guest to join us for a pre-game reception. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the south end of Thompson Arena. Refreshments and light snacks will be available.

The Queen's Cup is symbolic of university men's hockey supremacy in Ontario University Athletics (OUA). The Cup, originating at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, has a long history, dating back more than 100 years.  It was first contested in 1903, having been awarded every year since, except during the two World Wars.

Western University first earned the Queen's Cup in 1994-95 and has hoisted the cup on three occasions (1994-1995, 2004-2005 & 2008-2009).
