Kawartha Lakes Tourney
What a great start to the 2017-18 season for Team White!
Apparently we went to a fishing derby and a hockey tournament broke out.
The weather may have been the best of the summer and we took full advantage of it away from the rink. The boys and families spent time around the lake fishing, swimming, boating, fishing, enjoying pot luck meals, camp fires, did I mention fishing? I'm sure many of those poor fish were caught multiple times and still having nightmares.
On the ice our team battled hard beating Stoney Creek & West Hill, losing to Peterborough (#1 team in Ontario last year), tying Clarington and losing a tight semi-final to the same Clarington team 3-2. We look forward to seeing Peterborough again in our next tournament (LJK in November) and hopefully we'll bring it for 3 full periods this time.
While we didn't make it as far as we would have liked on the ice we certainly accomplished our goals off the ice. The players, parents and coaches had a chance to bond, new friends were made, many fish were caught (some caught their very 1st) and hopefully lifelong memories were created.
Thanks again to everyone who helped put the weekend together including the best social team in the league. Excited to see what our team can accomplish this season beginning on Thursday.
