Submitted By Webmaster on Mon 03 03, 14
The London Jr.Knights Pee Wee AAA team returned home from the 2014 Ontario Winter Games in Huntsville yesterday Gold Medalists.

The Knights won gold in stunning fashion defeating the #1 ranked team in Ontario, the Mississauga Rebels in double overtime. The game was scoreless after the first. In the second the Knights ran into some penalty problems and the Rebels cashed in with two power play goals. The Knights cut that lead in half 18 seconds into the third. They continued to pressure throughout the third but could not get one by the Mississauga goalie. With just over a minute left in the game, the Knights started to pull their goalie and before he got to the bench they had tied the game. The first overtime saw a number of chances for both teams. It was a see-saw battle. Four minutes into the second over time the Knights scored and won gold. They never gave up and continued to battle and it paid off. They would like to thank the Mississauga Rebels for a great game.

The Knights had defeated the Ottawa 67's in the semi's 5-2 to advance to the gold medal game. In round robin play, the Knights went 2-0-1 beating the Whitby Wildcats 3-1, the Mississauga Rebels 6-1 and tying the North Bay Trappers 6-6.

This was a great experience for the team. The players and staff roomed at their hotel, bused to games, meals together as a group.

The players and staff would like to thank all those involved at the 2014 Ontario Winter Games for making this such a great experience. One this team will never forget.
