Alliance Bristol Champions
This past weekend, the LJK U15 Green traveled to St. Thomas to compete for the Alliance Bristol Championship. After going 1-1-1 in the round robin, they came out hard on Saturday night to defeat Kitchener 5-2 to punch their ticket to the final.
In a game both teams believed they could win, 3 periods proved to be not enough as they headed to overtime to determine the Alliance champion.
One overtime.
Two overtimes.
Three overtimes.
Four overtimes.
The game went on and on as both teams exchanged chances that included a penalty shot, as well as a disallowed goal. With Knights goalie Caden Welsby doing all he could to keep his team in the game, all knights players rallied on the bench to encourage their teammates that they could do this; they could win.
With 1:16 left in the 5th overtime period, Maddox Wass found the back of the net and the Junior Knights were champions once again.
Congratulations to each and every player who continued to work, support, and encourage their fellow teammates throughout one of the most incredible sporting moments we’ve all ever been a part of. Every single young man on the roster deserves recognition and appreciation for their consistent hard work and effort.
On to OHFs.
