JR KNIGHTS SWEEP CAMBRIDGE HAWKS IN 1ST ROUND!
by Scott Greguol: This past weekend the Jr Knights finished off their series with the Cambridge Hawks.
On Friday night they travelled to Cambridge, a place that has not been kind to the Jr Knights this season. Matt Granger got the scoring starting just 5 minutes into the game with his 6th of the season on the powerplay. The period ended at 1-0 for London. In the second frame Adam Keyes scored his 25th of the season to extend the lead to 2. Derrick Johnson added his 6th to make it 3-0. Brandon Glover a few seconds later scored his 25th of the season as the Jr Knights held a 4-0 lead after forty minutes. Keyes scored his 2nd of the game and 26th of the season with just under 2 minutes to play in the game to seal it at 5-0. Ryan Langford had the shutout in net.
On Sunday night the teams battled for game 3 in London. Despite allowing a Hawks goal just a minute into the game, the Jr Knights rebounded with 4 of their own in the opening period. Keyes with his 27th, Tom McHenry netted his 8th and Matt McGhee scored his 23rd and 24th to give the Jr Knights a 4-1 lead after 20. In the middle frame McGhee scored his 25th to complete the hat trick and push the London lead to 5-1. The scoring stopped at that point as the Jr Knights went on for a 5-1 win and 3-0 series sweep.
The Jr Knights will now move on to the Semi Finals where they await their opponent.
